Description

This photo is dedicated to GFXartist sponsor MsMichelleLynn! Because you can take the best bug photos in the world! This is the only bug photo I've ever taken. I noticed this little bugger sitting of the antennae of our family car, so made a mad dash to get my camera.

I did some colour adjustments in PS7.

I hope you like it

nice shot! need a bit of contrast i think to make the grasshopper more sharpen.

Yeah it'd need more sharpness, but i think You tried your cameras best :)
Very well done, lovely bug, and great capture of the moment it settled on the top of that antenna. Lovely ^-^

very good
nice details
colors, composition
i agree with native29 that it might need some sharpness
anyway very good photo

Oh, I don't think it needs much more sharpness - at least none you couldn't accomplish by some action in photoshop. What bothers me a bit is the centered composition - I would cut a bit from the right to get it off-centered.

I love it this way! Nothing to crit! I love the way almost the background merged with the subject, Great Harmony of colors! Excellent Work!!

This is a good bug shot! What an interesting hopper, I've never seen one like that. I would like to see a little more sharpness, but that's about it. I'd say it needs more contrast with the background, but I actually like it the way it is.

Thanks

Unfortunately with a 2megapixel cam it is damn hard to make it sharper..... I know I need a new one despirately...

Awww Edite. You are so sweet to think of me. Thank you!!!!!!!!! I love it!!! This is a species of Katy-Did by the way. You can tell because it is green and it is flattened laterally. This is a great photo for a girl who doesn't usually do much photography. I'll tell you something ... but it's a secret .... shhhh .... your first bug picture is WAY better than my first bug picture was. Just our secret though OK. <wink>

Thanks Sweetheart. You're awesome!!!

This is very good Edite!! The centered composition is fine because you also are using the top left-bottom right diagonal and this works well. I hope you will continue the photographs. :)

I agree with Gary (actually I typed something similar than saw the crit above me *shakes fist at Gary* :p )

How many shots of the hopper did you take? While a profile shot seems the most obvious (most details/body to see) a head on shot, or a shot from an angle (like the front and right) would be an interesting take.

I'm up in the air about the sharpness...I think it's ok, play around with 'Unsharp Mask' in Photoshop, or try the Robert Mekis sharpening technique...I don't have a link right now, but I know  eowyn or Michelle has the link.

What a totally amazin' shot! Not often you'll find a lascivious antenna on your antenna :p

Nice job capturing this edite. I think the tones of the background and the hopper are too similer, causing the hopper not to stand out, but still, a great image.

Avatar emarts

 03/09/05 @841

This shot is quite humorous. I think I'd like to see a bit more of the antenna (the car's not the bug's) to get a better perspective of what's going on. I't nice to see the bug on the antenna instead of the windshield for a change. :)

Oh, and I like how the background is blurred but you can still see what it is. It really adds to the depth and interest.

Nice capture, I like the vibrant greens, though the centralized composition bothers me. Perhaps it would work better if tit was captured at a 3/4 angle of the insect
