Description

This is a reproduction I did on a Leonardo da Vinci sketch. As a reference, I used a very small photo. It was really hard to make out the detail. I am very proud of this drawing, as it helped me to learn how to draw horses :p

Traditional media, A3 paper, B-3B pencils.

I am sorry for the bad quality, I do not have a scanner at home, if I get my hands near one, I will try to get the scanned one here :)

Very cool Edite! ^_^ Dynamic- I can see it's a neat sketch despite your lack of a good scan. :p Get a scanner girl!!! Bad scans can bring down a great sketch- we can't have that, can we??! Haha

The anatomy of the guy is a little off, but the horse is superb. I don't see any problems with the horse whatsoever. ^_^ So, now you can draw horses, just practice with those people (the dreaded part of learning art- learning human anatomy...bah). Very nice sketch, Edite. You have a lot of potential. ^_^ Keep at it!

Well the line work is reminicent of DaVinci so your doing good so far

I saw, in both this drawing and your previous drawing post, a real sense of confident loosness, if that makes sense. It's a good thing, I wish I had it.

As far as drawing people, it's no different from drawing horses, planes, or apples, or whatever...it just takes practice and time. The same series of lines/shapes and colors that happen to look (when arranged a certain way) like a horse, are the same lines/shapes and colors that make up people and everything else when arranged in a different way. Again, I hope that made sense :p

I used to draw hundreds of horses when I was young and I got very good at it. A bit out of practice now though, but I don't think you really lose the ability. Keep it up. But cmpare what you have drawn with the real thing. The horse's ear does not look right and his snout is a bit thin. Don't skip the hooves. Those are details that really make the drawing.

Thank you, GFXartist sponsor emarts, when I first compared it, I think I didn't noticed it :p Now I do, if I ever decide to make a painting from this sketch, I will do a more detailed comparison.

Thanks for the advice

Beautiful work! I've tried over and over to get such lines in my sketching. . . and, well, I'm just not naturally talented when it comes to sketching real life objects))) Abstract works well for me.
This is wonderfully done, excellent lines and measure........+10, max ;) (thumbup)

I know this piece well, that's a reasonable copy considering you worked from a small photo.

Considering the fact that your title for this piece is " Da Vinci", which refers to Leonardos' hometown not his last name.
